
Equipment
- Laryngeal mask airway of the appropriate size (#4 in females and #5 in males)
- 20 - 40 mL syringe
- Lubricating jelly
- Tape
Method
- Remove all air from the laryngeal cuff
- Lubricate the posterior surface of the laryngeal mask
- Gently tilt the head backwards and insert with the posterior surface of the laryngeal mask against the hard palate

- Continue until resistance is felt
- As the cuff is insufflate, the LMA may move out of the mouth a few centimetres
- Secure the laryngeal mask airway with tape
