Prior approval of unrostered overtime is not required when overtimes happens because of:
Medical emergency
Transfer of a patient
Extended shift in theatre
Patient admission/discharge
Completion of outstanding patient transfer/discharge summary
Late ward rounds
Mandatory training
Clinical handover
Hospital-based outpatient clinics
In all other circumstances, unrostered overtime requires approval prior to being worked. This means that if you believe you are required to work unrostered overtime for any reason other than those outlined in the Policy Directive, you must obtain approval for the unrostered overtime prior to performing it.
Meal allowance can be claimed if you worked unrostered overtime:
Prior to 6:00am, a breakfast allowance
At least one hour after the ordinary ceasing time and extending beyond (or wholly after) 7:00pm, an evening allowance
Extending after 2:00pm on Saturdays, Sundays or Public Holidays, a luncheon allowance
